£20m Man City star Ilkay Gundogan could return tonight after 8 months spell on sidelines

Manchester City playmaker Ilkay Gundogan could return to action after eight months out through injury.

The 26-year-old has been sidelined since last December after suffering a knee ligament injury.

Gundogan re-joined first team training during the pre-season tour of the USA. However, the Germany international did not play any friendly game for the Citizens.

City has traveled to Spain to participate in a friendly with Girona tonight. Guardiola has been included in the 25-man squad which traveled to Catalonia.

However, the Manchester Evening News states that summer signing Benjamin Mendy is unlikely to feature for City. The France international has struggled with a thigh injury since joining from Monaco.

England international Kyle Walker has been rested ahead of the Premier League encounter with Everton. Samir Nasri and Fabian Delph have also been left out of the squad.

Man City take on Everton in the Premier League next Monday as they look to build upon their 2-0 win over Brighton from last weekend.
