Fenerbahce youngster Ozan Tufan is being tipped as one of the hottest talents to emerge from the Süper Lig since Arda Turan.
Manchester United are currently priced as the bookies favourites to sign the 21-year-old midfielder.
Betstars has United priced as overwhelming favourites at 15/8 to sign the 21-year-old Turkish international after an increase in betting activity.
“Ozan Tufan impressed for Turkey at Euro 2016 and it’s no surprise that he’s been the subject of much interest from several Premier League clubs,” trading director of Betstars Ian Marmion was quoted as saying by the Sport Review.
“After a flurry of bets in the last 24 hours, Manchester United have emerged as overwhelming 15/8 favourites to sign him.”
Tufan joined Fenerbahce on a €7 million move from Bursasapor last season after establishing himself as – statistically – the best young player in the Super Lig.
1. Top level experience
Tufan may just be 21-years-old but he already has a season of top-level football under his belt. Fenerbahce are a huge club with millions of fans and the players under intense pressure to perform week in week out. The box-to-box midfielder also has 27 international caps and was one of Turkey’s star performers at Euro 2016 in what was otherwise a disappointing campaign. Tufan was the youngest player to have scored in the summer tournament – until Renato Sanchez – with his splendid goal against the Czech Republic.
2. Jack of all trades
Tufan started his footballing life as a right-back at Bursaspor, he now shuttles between attacking and defensive midfield roles for Fenerbahce. Tufan is comfortable playing in just about any midfield position. The 21-year-old is a physical, assiduous player with a decent passing range and impressive technical ability. Fenerbahce boss Vitor Pereiera actually described him as being reminiscent of a young Yaya Toure.
“He still has a lot to learn and that is my job but the world will soon have a central midfielder on the level of Yaya Toure on their hands,” he said speaking on Sport Tv following Turkey’s 2-0 victory over the Czech Republic.
3. Age on his side
The 21-year-old already has two full seasons of Super Lig football, a European Championships and a Europa League campaign under his belt. Tufan has youth and talent on his side. It is also worth pointing out that he shares the same agent as Arda Turan – Ahmet Bulut. If anybody has the contacts and know how to pull off such a move it is him.
