3 things we learned about Emre Can following Liverpool loss against Sevilla

Emre Can

Sevilla made history last night beating Liverpool 3-1 in the Europa League final to lift the trophy for an unprecedented third time.

Emre Can did start for Liverpool in what was his first European competition final but was unable to prevent defeat.

Here are three things we learned following his performance.

1. He really cares

Europa League who cares right? not the case with Can. The Germany international of Turkish international was reduced to tears after losing the final. Can really does care about Liverpool and winning trophies with the club and his emotions rubbed off on the Reds faithful on social media after the game.

2. Lacks experience

The pressure of the final got to Can. His passing was way below average achieving just 73 percent accuracy and lost the ball more than any other player (3). One of his errors proved costly in the build up to Sevilla’s third goal. Passing accuracy has been a problem for Can this season but he has rarely strayed into the 70 percent accuracy mark. Experience comes with time and considering this was his first major final he must learn from it and improve for future clashes of this magnitude.

3. Defensively excellent

No other player in midfielder made as many tackles (3), interceptions (3) or clearances (6). Can’s supposedly more experienced midfield partner James Milner managed just a single clearance.
