Arsenal were dealt a blow in the title race after being held to a 3-3 draw against West Ham at Upton Park.

Mesut Ozil started for the Gunners and got his name on the scoresheet. Here are three things we learned following his performance.

1. Eye for goal

Mesut Ozil is renowned for his assists but his goal scoring record is not bad either. The World Cup winner revealed at the start of the season that he wanted to improve his goal scoring ratio and he has now found the back of the net eight times this season. Ozil made an intelligent forward run before slotting the ball past the opposition goalkeeper. The Arsenal playmaker has now scored his highest number of goals since joining from Real Madrid in 2013.

2. Chances galore

The Arsenal star is the leading assist provider in the Premier League having setup 19 goals this season but he did not add to his tally today. Ozil did however make the highest number of key passes (3) by any Arsenal player. Ozil has now created 122 chances this season – more than any other player but Arsenal have scored the fewest number of goals in the league.

3. Arsenal’s most influential player?

Ozil dictated the tempo of Arsenal’s game and most attacking moves went through the Arsenal star. The World Cup winner had 85 touches on the ball – the highest over the 90 minutes – and maintained a passing accuracy of 81 percent. The 26-year-old scored the opening goal and created the most chances. It could be argued that Ozil is the most influential player in the team.
