£40m Arsenal star heaps praise on ‘special’ Man United boss Jose Mourinho

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has heaped praise on Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho.

Ozil worked under the stewardship of Mourinho for three seasons while at the La Liga giants Real Madrid.

The 28-year-old left the Spanish capital shortly after Mourinho’s departure in 2013.

Arsenal went on to snap up the Germany international for £40 million while Mourinho returned to Chelsea.

During an interview with the German outlet Bild, Ozil labelled Mourinho as a ‘special coach‘ and a ‘perfectionist‘.

‘We were in the lead at half time. I was pleased with how the game went,’ Ozil told Bild am Sonntag..

“In his opinion, we, especially I, could have done much better. Mourinho is a special coach. A perfectionist.

“He has a good sense of the human being and does nothing without careful thought.

“He wanted to provoke me so that I could learn from it and get better.”

The comments may slightly unnerve some Arsenal fans seeing that Ozil has under 18 months remaining on his contract and that not so long ago the Gunners lost Robin van Persie to the Red Devils.

To make matters worse Ozil has stalled on negotiations while Arsenal are unwilling to match his wage demands.

Ozil has however, never publicly requested to leave the club.

Arsenal take on West Brom in the Premier League this weekend. Manchester United meanwhile face league leaders Chelsea at Stamford Bridge tonight.
