£42.5m Arsenal ace reveals ‘it would be wrong’ to talk about the future as he delivers contract update

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has revealed that ‘it would to be wrong’ for him to comment on his future right now.

Speaking to Sky Sports the Germany international of Turkish origin stated that he will hold talks over his next step at the end of the season.

At the moment what is important is Arsenal, not me or any other players,” Ozil told Sky Sports.

“The team are having a more difficult spell and at this stage I am not important, no other player is important – what is important is the club.

“We will talk in the summer and clear things then. At the moment it would be wrong to think about that.”

Ozil will have just 12 months remaining on his contract at the end of the season and has yet to agree a new deal.

The 28-year-old faces an uncertain future at Arsenal but has not ruled out staying.

Another big name at Arsenal whose future is up in the air is Arsene Wenger.

The Gunners head coach has not confirmed yet whether he will stay on or resign at the end of the league campaign.

Ozil did however, come out and back his manager yet again underlining that he was one of the key reasons for him joining from Real Madrid on a £42.5 million (Guardian) move in 2013.

“I always said he was the most important factor in me coming here,” he added.

“He has been here for 20 years and has given a lot to this club and I think he deserves respect for what he has achieved here.”
