“A tragedy of the highest order” – Liverpool fans fume on social media after Emre Can’s wonder goal rejected while Arsenal’s Giroud back-heal included for FIFA’s Puskas award

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can scored – arguably – one of the best overhead kicks of all time in the Premier League last season.

Can scored the overhead kick goal during Liverpool’s victory over Watford FC at Vicarage Road. The goal earned Can the club’s in-house Goal of the Season award before scooping him the Premier League’s version at the end of the campaign.

However, the people over at FIFA don’t appear to be as impressed and have omitted Can’s overhead kick while including Olivier Giroud’s scorpion-kick finish for Arsenal against Crystal Palace.

The winner of the Puskas award will be announced on Monday October 23 at The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony in London.

Liverpool fans took to social media to vent their frustrations to why Can isn’t in the running.
