Aaron Lennon: ‘Besiktas have the most intimidating atmosphere I’ve been in’ [divider]
Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon revealed that the last Spurs game played against Beşiktaş in 2006 was the most intimidating atmosphere he has ever experienced.
“I’ll never forget it,” Lennon told the official Tottenham site.
“The atmosphere was crazy, electric, incredible.
“From the moment we arrived the feeling was ‘wow, this is different’ and at the same time it was brilliant. I’d never experienced that before.
“Even now, it’s probably the loudest, most intimidating atmosphere I’ve been in.”
Tottenham beat Beşiktaş 2-0 at the İnönü stadium in 2006 however, the Black Eagles drew 1-1 with Spurs earlier this season.
Beşiktaş will not be playing at the İnönü stadium this time around as it is currently being rebuilt.
The match will be playing at the 72,000 Atatürk Olympic stadium.
