“Arda is our child” – Euro Giants step up interest in Liverpool linked Barcelona star Arda Turan

Galatasaray have edged ahead in the race to sign Barcelona winger Arda Turan.

The 30-year-old previously spent eleven years at the Istanbul giants and made 197 senior appearances, scoring 45 goals.

Turan earned himself a move to Atletico Madrid in 2011 before joining Barcelona in 2015.

However, the Turkey international has been unable to command a regular place in Barca’s starting lineup and has been deemed as surplus to requirements.

Liverpool have recently been linked with the flamboyant midfielder. According to the Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona offered Turan as part of a part-exchange deal for Philippe Coutinho.

Galatasaray have stepped up interest in their former player in recent days. Club president Dursun Ozbek publicly stated that the Lions want to sign the former Turkey international.

Arda is our child, of course, the most important place for Arda to play is Galatasaray,” Ozbek told NTV.

“The desire for playing football here is the greatest reason for him wanting to come. He spoke about this.”

Galatasaray have been busy during the transfer window. The Istanbul based club have already signed Bafetimbi Gomis, Younes Belhanda, Fernando, Mariano and N’Diaye.

Turan scored 13 times and provided seven assists in all competitions last season.
