Barcelona winger Arda Turan has not been assigned the number 14 shirt as he had hoped for.
In fact the bearded winger has not been assigned a shirt number at all and will not receive his digits until January when Barcelona can register him.
The Champions League title holders have released all the shirt numbers for the 2015-16 season on the official club website.
Turan wanted Javier Mascherano’s No 14 shirt number next season according to the Milliyet.
The report claimed that Turan’s father is a huge fan of Johan Cruyff and that the bearded winger wants to honour his dad by wearing the same shirt number the Barcelona legend wore as a player.
Turan joined Barcelona on a £24 million move from Atletico Madrid last month but due to the transfer ban imposed on Barcelona by FIFA the La Liga champions cannot register new signings until the turn of the year.
The Turkish international was not permitted to play any friendly games over the summer either although he was able to participate in team training.
Turan joined Barcelona on a five-year deal and became the third Turkish international to join the La Liga champions.
The experienced winger became the first Turkish international to win the La Liga title with Atletico Madrid in 2014.
