Arda Turan is an important weapon says Fatih Terim [divider]
Turkey national team coach Fatih Terim underlined just how big of a miss Arda Turan will be against Netherlands.
Turan picked up a suspension in Turkey’s 3-1 win against Kazakhstan after being shown a yellow card for simulation.
“Arda is one of our key players and showed just how versatile he is playing in a different role tonight,” Terim said.
“Arda is an important weapon for our team. Every team would love a player like Arda especially against a team like the Netherlands. But our national team needs to get used to not getting everything their way.
“I didn’t substitute Arda because he seemed to be enjoying the game.”
Terim also praised Burak Yılmaz for scoring a brace against Kazakhstan.
“Tonight Burak scored the goals. Umut couldn’t, but he pressed up front and tried a lot,” Terim said.
“It could have been a bigger victory for us, but what was important was getting three points.”
Turkey are 4th in Euro 2016 Group A after four games with four points following their 3-1 win over Kazakhstan.
