Arda Turan reveals he prefers Barcelona to Madrid

Arda Turan has revealed that he prefers Barcelona to Madrid and that he has settled well into life in Spain.

Turan stated that Barcelona is a more cosmopolitan city and that he is living in a great location within a short 10 minute travel to the training grounds and Nou Camp stadium.

“Barcelona is a more cosmopolitan city than Madrid people come from all over the world to visit and I have found the locals very warm hearted,” Turan told the Akşam newspaper.

“I am really happy here my house is in a great location just 10 minutes from the training ground and stadium.

“The homes here are quite expensive they go for around €10-30 million but it is a wonderful location.”

The Turkish international joined Barcelona on a £24 million transfer from Atletico Madrid despite the Champions League title holders serving a FIFA transfer ban until January.

The 28-year-old was expected to move on loan but the La Liga champions boss Luis Enrique insisted he stay to adapt to the Barcelona way.

Turan will have plenty of time to settle in as he is unable to play any club football for the next four months and has even had time to go for a dip in his swimming pool with his clothes on.

The bearded winger will have to watch Barcelona’s opening Champions League group stage game from the comfort of his home as the transfer ban also applies to European football competitions.
