Arda Turan wins first Barcelona trophy without setting foot on the pitch

Barcelona beat Sevilla 5-4 in a thrilling European Super Cup final in Geogia to lift their first trophy of the season.

The Champions League title holders were 1-0 down within the first few minutes but Lionel Messi scored a free-kick brace to give Barcelona the lead.

Barcelona were 4-1 up in the second half before Sevilla made an incredible come-back pushing the game into extra-time. The La Liga champions were eventually rescued by Pedro, the man who reportedly asked to leave Barcelona. The Spanish international came on and scored the winning goal.

Summer signing Arda Turan was included in the 24 man squad but was unable to play due to the FIFA transfer ban restricting Barcelona from registering new signings until the turn of the year.

Turan watched from the sidelines as his side won the trophy despite not setting foot on the field himself however, did not miss the chance to pose with the team during the trophy ceremony.

The bearded winger joined Barcelona on a £24 million move from Atletico Madrid last month.
