Arda Turan's Barcelona teammate crowned UEFA Best Player in Europe

Arda Turan’s teammate Lionel Messi has been named as UEFA’s best player in Europe today.

The Argentine star who helped his side to a treble last season neat Luis Suarez and Cristiano Ronaldo to the award.

Messi received the award after the Champions League group stage draw. Barcelona were placed against Bayer Leverkusen, Roma and BATE Borisov.

The 28-year-old scored 58 goals in all competitions while leading the Catalan side to success in La Liga, Copa del Rey and the Champions League.

Arda Turan joined the Champions League title holders last month on a five-year deal but the club are unable to register Turan until the turn of the year.

Barcelona are currently serving a FIFA transfer ban and despite being able to sign new players they cannot play new signings until January.

Turan was expected to leave on loan but is now likely to stay at Barcelona and adapt to his new teams teams style of football.
