Arsena star not interested in breaking Thierry Henry's record

Arsenal v Manchester Utd Mesut Ozil

Mesut Ozil has stated that personal accolades mean little to him if his team does not win silverware.

The 27-year-old is on the verge of smashing Theirry Henry’s Premier League assist record.

Ozil is having his best season in an Arsenal jersey and has registered 18 assists in 28 appearances this season. The Germany international is just two short of the Arsenal legend’s assist record with nine games left.

“I don’t play the game to smash records,” Ozil was quoted as saying by the Evening Standard.

“I know what I can do and I know that I’m one of the best assist makers in the world, but it’s all about titles for me.

“If I have a great season but we don’t win anything, what does it bring me?”

Arsenal have moved back into third place in the Premier League following their win over West Brom earlier this week. The north London based side take on relegation battlers Sunderland this weekend.
