Arsenal and Manchester United target Gundogan close to exit as Dortmund land replacement
Ilkay Gundogan is a step closer to a Borussia Dortmund exit following the Bundesliga sides capture of Gonzalo Castro from Bayer Leverkusen.
BVB have signed Casto on a four-year deal from Leverkusen for €10 million.
“We’re delighted,” Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc was quoted as saying by the Daily Star.
“In Gonzalo Castro we’ve acquired an experienced, technically adept midfielder who can play in a number of positions.”
The transfer of Castro is a boost to both Arsenal and Manchester United who have been closely linked with the 24-year-old.
The Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo has claimed that the German International has already passed a medical with Barcelona and is close to agreeing personal terms with the Catalan club.
The Dortmund star is also reported to have attracted interest from Manchester City according to the Manchester Evening News.
Gündoğan has four assists and three goals in 32 appearances for Dortmund despite spending much of the season out injured.
