Arsenal boss admits he is not only targeting £50m Valencia star

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed interest in £50 million Valencia star Shkodran Mustafi but also revealed that he has other targets.

“Listen, we have a good few options,” Wenger told French TV channel SFR Sport following Arsenal’s 0-0 draw at Leicester on Saturday. “He’s one of them but it’s being negotiated behind the scenes.”

Mustafi could set the Gunners back £50 million according to the Sun but he is also reported to have an eye on West Brom’s Jonny Evans, Fenerbache’s Simon Kjaer and Omer Toprak of Bayer Leverkusen.

A source close to Fenerbahce told Turkish-Football.com that the club do not wish to sell Kjaer this summer and recently turned down an enquiry made by Arsenal.

The Daily Star reported that Wenger is considering launching a £14 million offer for the Toprak.

The Turkish international defender has revealed that he is considering his options and recently hinted he could be open to a summer move.

The Turkey international was quoted by Turkish-Football.com as saying: “It is not certain whether I will stay at Bayer Leverkusen, we still have a month and anything could happen until them.”

The 27-year-old is vastly experienced in the Bundesliga having made 171 appearances for Bayer since joining from Freiburg in 2011.

Toprak has years of Champions League experience under his belt and has been sent off just twice in 171 games for Bayer Leverkusen.
