Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has heaped praise on his star playmeker Mesut Ozil in an interview with the clubs official website.
The experienced manager praised Ozil’s work rate and complimented the distances he covers during games.
“That is what Mesut is about. But he is also about, and people forget this many times, in his way [he is] an exceptional fighter,” Wenger told Arsenal FC.
“He runs much more and covers the distances during the game.”
The Germany international has won the Arsenal Vitality Player of the Month award for the past two consecutive months and has 13 assist in just 15 Premier League games this season.
Özil played a key role in the Gunner’s win over Olympiacos which saw Arsenal reach the Champions League Last 16 for the 15th consecutive season.
Arsenal take on Manchester City on Monday in a critical league encounter which could see the North London based side go top. Özil has won back-to-back FA Cups since joining Arsenal from Real Madrid.
