Arsenal boss Wenger insists Mesut Ozil is 'commited' to club ahead of Liverpool clash

Mesut Ozil

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has stated that Mesut Özil is committed to the North London side during his weekly press conference.

The Arsenal playmaker was linked with a move to Besiktas earlier this week. Beşiktaş transfer committee chief Erdan Torunogullari met with Özil’s representatives in London.

Speaking to Radyospor Kaynar said: “Erdal [Torunogullari] met with Mesut Ozil’s representatives last week and made an enquiry.”

Wenger was asked about Özil’s future but the Frenchman dismissed speculation and insisted that the Germany international will remain at Arsenal this summer.

The 26-year-old joined Arsenal on a record £42.5 million transfer fee and still has three-years left on his contract. The playmaker has established himself as a key player in the current Gunners side and is reported to be happy at the club.

Özil has a total of one assist in two league appearances for the Gunners this season. Özil enjoyed a trophy-laden pre-season winning the Asia Barclays Trophy, Emirates Cup and Community Shield.
