Arsenal boss reveals he will not rush Mesut Ozil back for Leicester City clash

Mesut Ozil

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he will not rush Mesut Ozil back going into the clash against Premier League champions Leicester City next week.

Speaking after the Gunners 3-4 defeat against Liverpool at home, Wenger was asked whether the three star players he left out – Ozil, Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny – would return in time for the game next week.

Wenger was quoted on the official Arsenal website as saying: “We will try, but when they have not enough preparation they get injured.”

Ozil was included in the provisional squad going into the game against the Reds but was left out of the match day squad.

Giroud and Koscielny did not even make the provisional squad. All three players were given an extended break after their Euro 2016 campaign.

Emre Can who also played in the Euro 2016 final for Germany did however, play unlike Ozil who was rested.

The Arsenal playmaker of Turkish origin is not injured but Wenger fears that his star man may end up on the sidelines if he is rushed back before he is 100 percent fit.
