Arsenal have a distinct identity and way of playing that separates the club from other Premier League sides according to Mesut Özil.

“Arsenal have always had a distinct way of playing,” Özil told Sport-Magazine.

“We play a passing style that could be described as being similar to Barcelona: we aim to dominate possession of the ball.”

Arsenal are renowned for their passing style but the Gunners are actually fourth ‘n terms of passes per-game.

The North London based club complete an average of 474 passes per-game. Manchester City actually complete more passes on average than any other Premier League side (549).

Özil also underlined that his side have a wealth of attacking talent and that having three different types of strikers gives Arsenal an edge.

“In Olivier Giroud, Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck, we have three types of attackers who all offer something different. Having three strikers so distinct from each other makes it harder for our opponents to defend against,” he added.

Arsenal have scored the third highest number of goals in the league this season (65). The Gunners also have the second best goal average in Premier League (+31).

Özil has scored or provided an assist in seven out of the last nine league games he has played in.
