‘Arsenal Have Made A Big Mistake’ – Gunners Legend Claims Man United Target Mesut Ozil Will Stay In January But Leave In The Summer

Arsenal duo Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez have both been closely linked with an exit from the Emirates.

Both players will be a free agent at the end of the season unless Arsenal renew their contracts.

The Gunners have yet to reach an agreement over a contract extension.

Ambiguity over the star duo’s contract status has resulted in them being linked with other clubs.

Arsenal legend Stewart Robson however, believes that both players want to stay on.

Robson claims the duo will want to stay put and see out the rest of their contract so that they could get a deal at their new club next season.

“The interesting thing is are they going to sell Alexis Sanchez? Are they going to sell Ozil?,” Robson said on ESPN.

“I think both those players won’t want to go now. I think Arsenal have made a big mistake.

“If they were going to sell them they should have sold them at the end of last season and then bought replacements for them.

“If they try and get rid of them now they’re not going to get that much money for them and I don’t think the players will want to go.

“Players can then get a massive contract elsewhere, there’s talk of Mesut Ozil going to Manchester United and wait until the end of the season to get that big contract and go and join Mourinho again as he did at Real Madrid.

“So I think that’s an area where Arsenal have made a big mistake.

“So I think they will wait until the end of the season.”

Manchester United have been closely linked with Ozil and could have him for as low as £8 million according to the Daily Star.

The Red Devils could land the 2014 World Cup winner for just £8 million – the figure his representatives are apparently seeking as a sign on fee.

The playmaker of Turkish origin has three goals and five assists in 15 appearances this season.
