Arsenal to hold talks with Turkish club in London over £20m star playmaker transfer clause

Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Besiktas playmaker Oguzhan Ozyakup.

Arsenal to hold talks with Turkish club in London over star playmaker transfer clause

Besiktas officials will meet with Arsenal in London to discuss a clause in Oguzhan Ozyakup’s contract.

The Turkey international joined Besiktas from Arsenal for just £450,000 back in 2012. However, the Gunners included a 30% transfer clause within the deal. This means if Ozyakup is sold by Besiktas, Arsenal will receive 30% of the final transfer fee.

According to the Turkish newspaper Sabah, Besiktas president Fikret Orman and sporting director Umut Guner will travel to London next week to meet with Arsenal officials.

Per the source, Besiktas previously offered Arsenal a £1 million fee in order to erase the 30% sell on clause from the Ozyakup deal.

However, Arsenal turned down the proposition. The Istanbul based club have valued Ozyakup at €20 million. If a club were to match the valuation, Arsenal would currently receive €6 million from the transfer.

Per the source, Besiktas will table an improved offer during their next meeting with Arsenal. Ozyakup has under 12-months remaining on his contract with the Black Eagles.
