Arsenal are in talks to sign Ilkay Gündoğan from Borussia Dortmund according to the Metro.

The Gunners are set to hijack Manchester United’s deal with Dortmund due to the Red Devils delaying the transfer over Gundogan’s past injury record.

The report goes onto state that the Gunners are in talks with Gündoğan’s family.

Dortmund recently confirmed that Gündoğan will be leaving the club in the summer.

“Our talks came to the conclusion that he won’t extend his contract and will leave in the summer,” Zorc was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

Manchester United have been closely linked with Gündoğan in recent weeks with the Red’s boss Luis Van Gaal confirming that a midfielder will be signed during the next transfer window.

Gündoğan has four assists and three goals in 30 appearances for Dortmund this season.

Dortmund sit in 9th place in the League with 40 points from 31 games. The Bundesliga Giants no longer have a chance of participating in the UEFA Champions League next season.
