Arsenal’s Mesut Özil is second only to the Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi in the number of assists provided since August 2008 in Europe’s top leagues.
Statistics put together by Sky Sports following the Gunner’s victory over Everton last weekend, underline just how import Özil is to his team.
Arsenal beat Everton 2-1 to move into joint first place in the Premier League yesterday. Özil setup Olivier Giroud with the opening goal in what was his fifth assist in four games for the Gunners.
Sky Sports football pundit Jamie Redknapp praised Özil for his assist and described his left foot as being a thing of wonder.
“Özil who has a wonder of a left foot was given the time to deliver and it really was a lovely delivery,” Redknapp said speaking on Sky Sports after the game.
The 27-year-old received rating of 8.26 from WhoScored for his performance against the Toffees.
Özil now has a total of seven assists in all competitions for the north London based club this season.
