Arsenal preparing to smash Mesut Ozil transfer record to sign Juventus striker

Arsenal team news

Arsenal are lining up a record breaking bid for Juventus’ star striker Alvaro Morata.

The Evening Standard have reported that the Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is a long term fan of the Spain international and that he is keen to sign him over the summer.

However, Real Madrid inserted a buy-back clause in his contract when they sold him to the Serie A giants back in 2014. The clause is understood to be in the the region of €30million and Real Madrid could then sell him on to Arsenal for an inflated fee.

Ozil joined Arsenal from Madrid back in September 2013 for a club record fee of £42 million.

The 27-year-old assisted 19 goals in the league this season, just one short of equalling the Premier League record of 20 set by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

Ozil has been included in the Germany national team squad which will travel to France this summer.
