Arsenal beat Reading 2-1 in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley to progress to the final.

Mesut Özil started for the Gunners and provided assists in both goals.

BBC Football pundit Danny Murphy stated that Arsenal are starting to reap the benefits of playing Özil in a central attacking midfield position.

Murphy also believes that playing Özil through the middle has also boosted his confidence.

“You can tell Mesut Ozil is playing with more confidence,” Murphy was quoted as saying by Squawka,

“He is playing in the middle and wanting the ball more.”

“At the moment I am pleased with the consistency of my game,” Özil told Sport-Magazine.

“I feel I am now playing my best football since joining Arsenal.”

The 26-year-old has been in impressive form since returning from injury. Özil has scored or provided an assist in 11 out of the last 13 games he has played in.

Özil was part of the Arsenal side that won the FA Cup last season, ending a nine month silverware drought.
