Arsenal receive transfer boost in race for Turkish international star as club official rules out move to rival Super Lig club

Arsenal were given a boost in the race to sign Besiktas midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup today.

Besiktas have ruled out Ozyakup joining rival Super Lig outfit Fenerbahce.

The midfielder had been closely linked with the Yellow Canaries but Black Eagles vice president Ahmet Nur Cebi has completely denied the reports.

“I do not give this a one in a million chance,” Cebi was quoted as saying by Turkish-Football.

“Oguzhan is a Besiktas boy, a move to another Turkish club just isn’t going to happen.”

Cebi did not however, rule out a move abroad for the Turkish international.

“A transfer is possible to the right club,” he added.

Besiktas have never ruled out Ozyakup leaving for a major European club.

The 25-year-old has himself stated that he is keen on returning to the Premier League one day.

Arsenal are reported to be preparing a £20 million move for Ozyakup according to the Fanatik.

Ozyakup is no stranger to Arsenal having risen through the youth ranks at the North London based outfit before joining Besiktas in 2012.

The Dutch born midfielder played a key role in Besiktas winning back to back league titles over the past two seasons.
