Arsenal star Mesut Ozil demands big summer signings before discussing new deal

Arsenal’s star playmaker Mesut Ozil wants his side to strengthen their squad if he is to sign a contract extension.

The Express newspaper claims that Ozil has delayed negotiations over a new contract until the end of the season following their dip in form.

The daily newspaper goes onto state that Ozil is seeking assurances that Arsenal will strengthen their squad significantly and challenge for the Premier League and Champions League next season.

The Germany international has been in impressive form this season and looked set to break assist records when he already racked up 15 assists by January.

However, the Germany international has only managed four assists since the beginning of 2016.

Ozil would have had more assists to his name had it not been for the profligacy of his teammates. The 27-year-old has created the most chances in the league (122) but Arsenal have the lowest goal record in the top four.

Arsenal take on West Brom this weekend in the Premier League.
