Arsenal star Mesut Ozil doesn't receive the credit he deserves says Liverpool legend

Arsenal team news

Mesut Ozil hasn’t received the praise he deserves according to the Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson.

Lawrenson also told BBC Sport that Arsenal playmaker has been ‘fantastic’ this season.

“This is the season when Arsenal have to win the Premier League. The worry is, they always seem to let you down,” he told BBC Sport.

“One thing in their favour though is that this season Mesut Ozil has been fantastic. He really hasn’t got the column inches he deserves.”

The former Real Madrid man has has won the Arsenal Vitality Player of the Month award for the past two consecutive months and has 13 assist in 15 Premier League games this season.

Arsenal are understood to be preparing a new deal for Ozil. According to Wayne Veysey of Footballinsider247, the new deal would see his wage increase from £50,000-a-week to £180,000-a-week and make him the best-paid player in the Gunners history.

The North London based side take on Manchester City in the next round of games in the Premier League.

Arsenal currently find themselves in second place behind with 33 points in 16 games. The Gunners are two points behind leaders Leicester City.
