Arsenal star Mesut Ozil dominated Man City game despite chest infection

Arsenal’s playmaker Mesut Ozil was the star of the show on Monday evening when the Gunners defeated title rivals Manchester City by a  2-1 scoreline.

The 27-year-old provided two assists and was awarded the ‘man of the match’ by SkySports.

However, Ozil managed this despite a chest infection which kept him in bed over the weekend according to his manager.

“Ozil had a chest infection this weekend and he was in bed, basically,” Wenger was quoted as saying by the Standard.

“He had only one training session. For a guy who could not prepare well, he has done extremely well physically. I’m a bit cautious because we lost three or four players recently.”

Ozil has been in sensational form this season and has won back-to-back Vitality Arsenal Play of the Month awards over the last two months. The Germany international has also racked up 15 assists this term.

Arsenal went four points clear of Manchester City following yesterday’s win. The Gunners take on Southampton in their next league game as they look to over take Leicester City who sit at the top of the table.
