Arsenal star extends condolences to victims of Istanbul terror attack

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has extended his condolences to the victims of the families in the Istanbul terror attack that took place in the city today.

A suicide bomb attack at the busy shopping district of Istiklal Caddesi in Istanbul killed at least four people and 36 people were injured officials say.

Three Israeli and an Iranian tourist lost their lives, in the blast that took place near Taksim square Turkish media reports.

Ozil is one of three ethnic Turks that regularly play for the Germany national team – the other two being Emre Can and Ilkay Gundogan.

The World Cup winner was born in Germany to Turkish parents and has family in Turkey.

Ozil regularly visits the city of Istanbul and has family living in the city.

The latest attacks come just a week after the Ankara terror attack in which at least 37 people were killed and more than 70 injured.

The PKK linked TAK terror group took responsibility for the Ankara suicide bombing.
