The World Cup winner poses with his baseball cap creating a shadow that masks half his face.
The 26-year-old does appear to giving a cheeky smirk but he gives nothing away as to the meaning behind his latest selfie except the caption, “M1ö.”
The hashtag #throwbackthursday is popular on social media and generally involves users sharing and look back fondly on some of their favorite memories.
Özil appears to be reliving his days as a rap star back in Germany in his throwback wearing a baseball cap often associated with hip hop culture.
