Arsenal star Mesut Ozil was the hero yesterday as Germany knocked Italy out of Euro 2106 but he could easily have ended up the villain.
Ozil scored Germany’s only goal in regulation time but when it was his turn to score in the penalty shoot out he missed.
The Germany international has now missed both his penalty efforts at Euro 2016 and four of his last five penalties for club and country.
Ozil became the first Germany international to miss a penalty for his country when he missed Slovakia in the Last 16.
It is probably safe to say Ozil should not be on penalty duty for the foreseeable future.

Germany did manage to beat Italy on penalties as both sides proved to be equally poor from their spot kicks.
Ozil’s side will take on the winner of the France v Iceland quarter-final in the next round of the tournament.
