Arsenal playmaker Mesut Özil managed to fit in a cheeky trip to Istanbul in-between his busy training program ahead of the Premier League clash against Liverpool on Monday 24 August.
The trip led to further speculation that a move to Turkey could be on the cards but it turned out to be nothing more than a social visit.
Özil enjoyed a meal at popular Istanbul steakhouse Nusr-et located in swanky Etiler.
The World Cup winner took time to pose with the owner who uploaded a picture onto his Instagram account.
The caption to the picture reads: “He asked if I like German chocolate.”
Özil makes regular trips to Turkey and was only recently returned from a trip from Istanbul last month.
The 26-year-old is of Turkish origin and his family come from the Zonguldak province located in the north-western region of the country.
The World Cup winner is bi-lingual in Turkish and German but also speaks English as well as Spanish.
