Mesut Özil has revealed the meaning behind his ‘m’ sign goal celebration during a question & answers session on Twitter.
The 27-year-old has been seen to make a ‘m’ shaped gesture with his hand whenever he scores a goal. Özil told his fans that the celebration is for his younger niece Mira.
Özil was rested for the weekend clash with Sunderland in the FA Cup. Arsenal ended up beating Sunderland by a 3-1 scoreline despite fielding a weakened side.
The 27-year-old has been in great form for the Gunners this season providing 16 assists in 19 league games.
Özil was not nominated for the 2015 Ballon D’or 2015 awards yesterday but if he keeps this us and helps the Gunners win the league he may just make the shortlist next year.
Arsenal based side are currently first in the Premier League and take on Liverpool at Anfield tonight.
