Man United transfer news: Arsenal Star Mourinho Reunion, No Official Talks Yet

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has been closely linked with an exit from the North London based outfit.

The playmaker of Turkish origin has under 12 months remaining on his contract but has yet to sign a new deal.

According to Bleacher Report, even though there has been no direct contact made by United for Ozil, it is believed that a move to Old Trafford could be on the cards.

The journalist responsible for the piece – Dean Jones – reports about talking to a source who revealed Ozil would be keen on reunion with the United boss.

Ozil is of course no stranger to working with the Portuguese manager.

The playmaker of Turkish origin played under the stewardship of Mourinho during his time at Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, winning La Liga and the Copa del Rey.

Ozil he provided 47 assists and scored 19 goals in 103 league game.

The attacking midfielder setup 81 goals and scored 27 goals during his time at the Madrid based giants.

Mourinho is a long term admirer of the 2014 World Cup winner.

“Özil is unique. He’s the best no. 10 in the world,” Mourinho was quoted as saying by Marca.

In June 2014, after being heavily criticised at Arsenal, Mourinho defended him saying:

“I learned with him because we were together for quite a long time, that he’s a very sensitive boy.

“He needs confidence. He needs trust. He needs to feel that people is with him. When he’s on the pitch, every time he touches the ball, the ball goes beautiful.

“And he’ll always finds the right man on the right place. So, sometimes, you don’t see him, sometimes he doesn’t go to screen many, many times. But when he goes he is a special player.

“If you are expecting Ozil to be super aggressive and running miles and miles side to side and to show great enthusiasm and aggressivity – this is not Mesut .

“If you are waiting for somebody who every time he touches the ball, the ball smiles and every time he makes the pass the ball goes in the right direction with the right speed and intensity – this is Mesut.”

Ozil has yet to score or provide an assist in all competitions for Arsenal this season.
