Mesut Ozil has been nominated for the PFA player of the year award.

The 27-year-old will face competition from West Ham United’s star man Dimitri Payet and the Leicester City trio, Jamie Vardy. N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez.

Harry Kane – who won last seasons award – has also been nominated after scoring 22 goals this seasons.

Mahrez is currently the front runner for the award after a stunning season in which he has provided ten assists and scored 17 goals.

Ozil has provided the highest number of assists in the league this season (19) and would have had more had it not been for the profligacy of his teammates.

The Germany international star has also created the most chances in the league (122) but Arsenal have the lowest goal record in the top four.

Arsenal host Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, kick-off is at 16:00 (GMT).
