Arsenal star misses out on Champions League team of the week despite goal

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has been left out of the UEFA Champions League team of the week despite scoring in the Gunner’s 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich.

Petr Cech was the only Arsenal player to make the squad after making a string of key saves against the Germany international.

The 27-year-old scored his sides second goal late on in the second half to secure all three points for the Gunners.

Ozil made three key passes, took two shots on target and had a pass accuracy of 83%. The Germany international had 53 touches on the ball, made three interceptions and made 36 passes during the game.

Arsenal had gotten off to a slow start in the Champions League after suffering two defeats in their opening two games against Olympiakos and Dinamo Zagreb.

Tonight’s victory re-ignites the North London based sides qualification hopes as they move up into third place. Arsenal take on Bayern Munich in Germany in the next round of games.

The Gunners take on Everton this weekend in the Premier League.
