Arsenal star reveals he is not entirely happy with new 3-4-3 formation

Mesut Ozil has admitted that he is not very enthusiastic about Arsenal’s new formation.

Arsene Wenger recently switched from a 4-2-3-1 formation to a 3-4-3.

Arsenal have flourished since the change in shape and have recorded three wins in a row. Furthermore, Ozil’s performances have improved since Wenger’s tactical change.

The 28-year-old provided an assist for Arsenal’s opener against Sunderland on Tuesday evening.

Ozil however, believes that Arsenal’s new tactic limits the ‘freedom’ he usually has as a No.10 in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

“I might not quite have the same freedom that I had as when I played in the No.10. When you’re there, you have the freedom to go everywhere,” Ozil was quoted as saying by the Mirror.

“In this new system, I need to be on the right a bit more, but that’s something you do for the team. It’s not important what the individual player wants, all that counts is the team.

“The coach sees me there at the moment and the main thing for me is that I’m on the pitch and can help the team with my performances.”

Arsenal take on Everton at the Emirates stadium in their last league fixture of the season.

The Gunners need to win their final game and hope Liverpool drop points against Middlesbrough if they are to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Arsene Wenger’s side will also have one eye on the FA Cup final against rivals Chelsea on May 27.
