Arsenal are still in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund’s midfielder Ilkay Gundogan according to the German tabloid newspaper Bild.
Gundogan has been closely linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks.
Dortmund have been reluctant to let go of their star man whose contract comes to an end in 2016 and offered a contract extension until 2019 worth €6.5 million per-season.
Gündoğan has however, been unwilling to strike a deal with his current club and the Bundesliga giants keen to cash in on him this summer rather than risk letting him walk away for nothing.
The news will be a blow to Manchester United’s manager Louis van Gaal, who has made the Germany international one of his key transfer targets this summer.
