Bayer will not have European competition football next season after finishing the league in 12th place.

Previous reports linking Arsenal with Calhanoglu reported Bayer as wanting £17.6 million for the attacking midfielder.

Calhanoglu has been out for past few months serving a playing ban until the end of the season after FIFA ruled he broke an agreement to join Trabzonspor from Karlsruhe in 2011.

The Bayer ace was ranked the sixth best performing player – statistically – in the Bundesliga according to Whoscored until the ban.
