Arsenal team news: £35m Granit Xhaka to miss Man United clash

Arsenal will be without their summer signing Granit Xhaka this weekend for their clash with Man United.

The Switzerland international suffered an ankle injury during the Gunners defeat to Tottenham.

Xhaka has failed to recover in time and Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he will miss this weekend’s encounter.

The combative midfielder made the move to Arsenal from Borussia Monchengladbach for £35 million (BBC) last summer.

Meanwhile, Shkodran Mustafi is also a major doubt. The Germany international has been out with a thigh injury recently but has returned to training.

“Granit Xhaka  is still out. (Shkodran) Mustafi is back in normal training, that’s basically it,” Arsene Wenger stated in his n his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s clash.

“Ospina is fully fit, Lucas Perez is back in training but will miss the next couple of days after picking up a knock.”

Germany international Mesut Ozil is available for selection once again. The 28-year-old has racked up 11 goals and 11 assists this season.

Arsenal are six points behind fourth placed Man City, but do have a game in hand.
