Arsenal team news: Contract rebel reacts to exit reports

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has dismissed reports of a rift between himself and Arsene Wenger.

The Germany international also stated that he is comfortable at Arsenal and that talks with Arsenal will be held ‘soon.’

“And you think Wenger tells the journalist before he tells me? Then I know him differently,” Ozil told German outlet Welt when asked about an Arsenal exit.

“I have a contract until 2018 in London and I feel very comfortable there. We’ll talk soon and then make a decision.”

Ozil will have just 12 months remaining on his contract with the Gunners this summer. The 28-year-old is understood to be holding out for a giant pay rise in his new deal.

However, the Times states that Arsenal are willing to offload their star names at the right price.

Ozil missed Arsenal’s 3-1 defeat to West Brom last week due to a hamstring injury. The former Real Madrid man did however make a return for Germany yesterday.

Arsenal are currently six points behind fourth placed Liverpool but do have two games in hand. The Gunners are also two points behind rivals Manchester United.

Arsene Wenger’s side take on Manchester City in the Premier League this weekend.
