Arsenal to hold talks with an ‘ill’ Mesut Özil after he was spotted in Berlin nightclub
Arsenal will hold talks with Mesut Özil and will ask him to explain why he was spotted in a Berlin nightclub hours after being declared unfit to play due to an illness.
According to the London Evening Standard newspaper, Arsenal are relaxed about the situation and stressed prior to kick-off at St James’ Park that Özil’s condition was nothing serious.
Arsene Wenger will speak to Özil to clarify exactly what happened although the 26-year-old is unlikely to face any disciplinary action.
The former Real Madrid star, who is back in his home country ahead of Wednesday’s international friendly against Australia, visited ‘The Pearl’ nightclub, according to the German newspaper Bild.
Özil was left out of the team against Newcastle United at St James Park due to illness, the club revealed. The Gunners put an end to speculation that Özil had been dropped from the team via their official Twitter account.
Arsenal remained in third place with 60 points in 30 games following the weekends result. Olivier Giroud scored both of Arsenals goals while Sissoko found the back of the net for Newcastle.
