Arsenal transfer news: Agent of star midfielder set to hold talks in Istanbul over Fenerbahce move
Fenerbahce are set to hold talks with Arsenal star Santi Cazorla’s agent a source close to the club revealed to Turkish-Football.
Cazorla was offered to Fenerbahce via an intermediary and the Istanbul giants are considering making a move for the Spanish international.
An offer has yet to be made and there are concerns over Cazorla’s injury problems but Fenerbahce are planning to hold preliminary talks with his agent.
The 32-year-old has not featured since October and faces an uncertain future at Arsenal as the North London side do not offer long term deals to players over 30.
Arsenal were however, equal on points with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table and three clear of current leaders Chelsea when Cazorla last played four months ago.
Another star player for Arsenal, Mesut Ozil has had a dip in form recently but he was performing at a higher level when Cazorla was fit.
The North London outfit won eight out of the nine matches Ozil and Cazorla started together this season in all competitions.
Fenerbahce have made signing a creative midfielder a priority over the summer as they failed to replace Diego Ribas.
The Yellow Canaries are currently 4th in the league on 41 points after 23 games.
Fenerbahce will not be able to book a place in the Champions League unless they finish in the top two.
