Arsenal unwilling to match Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil’s £250k contract demands

Arsenal chairman Sir Chips Keswick has warned both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil that they will not match the duo’s wage demands.

According to the Express, Sir Chips Keswick insisted that despite increased Premier League broadcasting revenues, the Gunners will not cave in to Ozil and Sanchez’s contract demands.

The Express goes onto state that Sanchez has been linked with a move to the Italian Serie A while Ozil is being monitored by Chinese Super League clubs.

Per the source, both Ozil and Sanchez – who both have under 18 months remaining on their contracts – want £250,000 per week if they are to put pen to paper on a new deal.

“We have continued to invest in the region of key players,” Sir Chips Keswick was quoted as saying by the Express.

“Francis Coquelin, Hector Bellerin, Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud have all signed new contracts, while we have taken up options to extend the contracts of Per Mertesacker and Santi Cazorla.

“Further work is required in the area of contract renewals and we will continue to invest rationally in our squad retention.

“As expected, increased Premier League broadcasting revenues have had a direct impact on player costs both in terms of transfer prices and player wage demands.

“While these are market forces that have contributed directly over time to the success of the Premier League, I would sound a note of caution in light of the very material contractual commitments to future wages that clubs are taking on.”

Sanchez has been in incredible form for the Gunners this season with 16 assists and 20 goals in 34 apperances for Arsenal so far.

Ozil meanwhile has eight assists and nine goals in 29 apperances for the north London based club.
