Germany national team-mates Mesut Ozil and Ilkay Gundogan will not feature for their respective sides going into the Arsenal clash against Manchester City in Sweden on Sunday.
Ozil is on extended leave after reaching the Euro 2016 semi-finals with Germany while Gundogan is out injured.
Both Ozil and Gundogan were born in Germany but are ethnic Turks and members of the largest non-German community in the country with an estimated population of 3-4 million.
Ozil and Gundogan opted to represent Germany while the likes of West Ham winger Gokhan Tore, Bayer Leverkusen star Hakan Calhanoglu and Dortmund midfielder Nuri Sahin who were also born in Germany play for Turkey.
Players of Turkish origin born in Germany are eligible to represent both countries at international level.
There are now a total of six Turkish players contacted to Premier League sides with four born in Germany – Ozil, Gundogan, Tore, Emre Can – one born in Turkey – Enes Unal – and Gokhan Inler’s place of birth was Switzerland.
Manchester City striker Unal is currently the only Turkish player in the Premier League that was born in Turkey.
