Arsene Wenger reacts to reports linking Mesut Ozil to Manchester United

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reacted to reports linking Mesut Ozil to Manchester United.

The Mirror recently claimed that Ozil is keen on a move to the Red Devils where he will link up to his former manager Jose Mourinho.

Per the source, the 29-year-old has even told his teammates that he is confident of the move.

Arsene Wenger responded to reports linking Ozil with a move to Arsenal’s rivals next summer during an interview with the clubs official website.

The French tactician stated that he will not change his decisions regarding Ozil based on speculation.

Wenger went onto state that he expects Ozil to be professional and give 100 per cent during his time at Arsenal.

“We have to deal with all kinds of speculation when the players are at the end of their contracts,” Wenger told the club website.

“On the other hand, to be professional is to give 100 per cent as long as you are somewhere.

“For the rest, we came out many times and said that’s the situation. It [the media] can come out tomorrow and say that he extends his contract here.

“It will be exactly the same, it will not change anything. When you play the next game, commit 100 per cent.”

Ozil won the La Liga and League Cup during his three-year spell at Real Madrid with Jose Mourinho.

The 29-year-old has been sidelined with a knee injury in recent weeks and started last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Watford FC on the bench.

Arsenal take on Everton in the Premier League this weekend.
