Galatasaray were held to a 2-2 draw against Astana their second UEFA Champions League group stage game at the Astana Arena.

The match was Astana’s first home game in the competition and also marked the first time two clubs from Turkic states have played each other in the group stages.

The Lions took the lead when Bilal Kısa fired in a long range effort that swerved in the air giving the keeper no chance on 31 minutes.

Astana started the second half positively and piled on the pressure as Galatasaray tried to sit deep. The Istanbul giants were punished for their poor defending when the home side equalised on 77 minutes as a result of Hakan Balta’s own goal.

Galatasaray regained the lead just minutes later when second half substitute Sinan Kurt made the most of some dreadful goalkeeping on 86 minutes but Astana had the last laugh equalising again thanks to another own goal this time from Carole.
